The Culbertson Mansion was built in 1867 by William S. Culbertson and it cost just $120,000 to build during that time and it is believed to be haunted. Witnesses have reported hearing doors shut by themselves and footsteps upstairs while no one is up there. The mansion's carriage house burned down in 1888 during a lightning strike, killing all who were inside. Many believe that those who died here are the ones who linger the place to this day. There have been unpleasant smells, clanging sounds, and a dark man's apparition. All of these were repeated occurrences in the 1990s when the Webb family and Dr. Webb's office occupied the building. The hauntings continued until Dr. Webb began to lose his patience, and his patients, many of whom went missing. There was a period of inactivity at the house and investigators from the local police went to the place to find it abandoned and Dr. Webb's entire family was violently murdered in every room. They found Dr. Webb's torture chambers in the basement, where he did unspeakable acts to his patients. After this, the mansion was boarded up for 30 years, until the American Legion purchased the property in the 1940s. Witnesses say the place is haunted and that there have been electrical problems in the home, missing objects, eerie noises after closing and dark shadowy figures that walk throughout. Sometimes during the Halloween season, the Carriage House is open as a haunted houe attraction.

A tour several years ago.

I think it was 2018, my daughters and I went for a tour. The museum is beautiful and they were in the midst of restoration . There were several knocks and in the kitchen area my camera refused to focus. All kinda weird but old house. It was until I got home that I realized I had captured a photograph of a gentleman in a suit on the stairs. I sent the museum the photograph. We go back from time to time , it's a lovely place to see.

Dr Webb is not real!

Dr Webb was a story made up for the haunted house in the carriage house behind the Culbertson mansion. The mansion was never boarded up for 30 years. The culbertson family sold it in the 1890s to another family who lived in it until three 1940 when the American Legion bought it. They didn't keep it up and wanted to tear it down in the 1960s but it was bought by a local group and preserved.

overall good experience

went there a few times for school trips but also went on my own when i was older. i remember once we broke up into groups on our school trip and there were 3 of us and an adult chaperone walking around in a room when all of a sudden it sounded as if someone whispered “here.” after that an object fell off a table making a clattering sound. craziest thing was none of us were anywhere near the table and nobody was upstairs with us. the rest of the groups were outside or downstairs. another thing i remember seeing when i was older was a figure of a man who looked to be 40-50 sitting at a desk area smoking a pipe. not long after there was a faint smell of tobacco coming from the room. i wouldn’t say any of these experiences were particularly scary or even disturbing, just the souls of people in/of another realm attempting to communicate or be seen. great experience overall and would definitely recommend stopping by for a tour or to investigate for yourself.
