In the 1920's this hotel was a high-class resort and popular spot for celebrities and Chicago gangsters to get away from the city. Al Capone was one of those guest who would stay in Room 301 and buy out the entire hotel. Many claim it is haunted by mobster Al Capone and other gangsters who frequented the place.

Hotel staff have reported sightings, photos taken at the hotel to include orbs, and the sound of a female voice wailing at night that is believed to be that of a gangster's girlfriend who was murdered in the hotel. Even Rita Hayworth's spirit is said to live here, appearing as a faint light outside the building. Email Haunt

  • Been there, a lot as a child

I had been going there since the 60's as a child during summer vacations. My sister worked there. As kid's we would walk there. As a family we would visit. Kid's see thing's adults don't. I actually never saw anything. But, there were certain area's of the hotel? I was afraid of. I would just get this,I'm scared of something feeling when I would walk up the stairs to the 2nd floor dining area. I didn't like to go up or down alone. Then, on the 2nd floor? I was petrified to go down the hall where the rooms were. Like I've said, I never saw anything. But, I was just really scared for some reason. In all the time's that I had been there & it was probably over 100 time's? I was too scared & never, ever would go up to the 3rd floor. Ever! I felt okay in the Bar area. Some of the booths? I kinda felt strange sitting in them & would usually change seats. 1 day & only 1 time? I was allowed to go into a side storage area where they kept the liquor at. I could smell cigars in there. I just got the feeling people were talking privately in there away from a crowd, if you get my drift. But, I got that same feeling in there as i did on the 2nd floor. I only went through to the outside that 1 time. My favorite place was the kitchen & we pretty much always came in that door. I was way too young to understand about haunting or even dead people. But, I do remember time's that I just didn't like being inside. Thank God they had the trailers & dock to the lake right across the street. But, I would sometimes get weird feelings there, but not all the time. I would say, that yeah. It was & is haunted. Nothing bad,but young children can.pick up thing's adults can't. I was pretty young & probably going there since I was 5 or 6. So, for me to get those feelings at that age? It's real! It was owned by a Great Family though for many, many year's& was a success. , I can say that & although I had those scary experiences i did love spending my summers there. They were GREAT! I just never had to spend the night there that I can remember ??

  • Very Dissapointed

Was not a good experience. Slow getting ordered and slower getting food. 1 of 2 appetizers forgotten about. Pork chop was kinda dry and burnt tasting. The ribeye (not cheap) was over cooked and tasted charred on outside. The ribs I dont think were completely done. Very tough and even hard to cut apart with a knife. The baked potato was not even cut in two on anyones plate. One potato when cut open had a big bad spot in the middle. The side salad was a small plate of just lettace and 2 raw onion rings on top. No croutons, cheese, tomato, or cucumbers... This use to be one of my fav places to go on a special night. I wont be back. It is way too expensive to get that much unsatisfactory food and service.

  • Ghosts and Pizza

Being a new resident of Indiana we decided to look for historical places to dine. We were at a table and I decided to film the inside while we waited for our order . The next day I reviewed the footage. There was something bigger than orb that literally danced around our table . It was so exciting to see an actual ghost . I still have the footage and show it often to people wanting a unique dining experience.
